The San Diego Convention Center is a huge attraction for many
visitors from all over the world. This massive 2.6 million square
feet building is home of many conventions held throughout the year.
This building was completed in 1989 and then expanded in 2001 where
it doubled it's size. The unique shape of the center was built to
reflect the maritime history that San Diego has.
Many well known conventions are held in the convention center such
as the American Psychology Association Convention, the International
Auto Show, and the Boat Show. The biggest one is the annual Comic
Con which draws over 100,000 people a year where comic book fans and
other pop culture fans come to see the convention.
This is a very popular place among visitors because of it's
location. It is located in the Marina district in Downtown San
Diego. Because of this, visitors who go to the conventions can also
have fun in the city. Near the convention center, there are many
exclusive five-star hotels to rest in. There is also the Gaslamp
Quarter, Horton Plaza, Petco Park, and Seaport Village to visit
after the conventions. All of these places are within walking
distances so it will not be hard to find.
